The History of Coombe Lodge

Coombe Lodge in Blagdon, Somerset, United Kingdom, stands as a testament to the area’s rich historical tapestry. Built in 1932, it was initially designed as a home by Sir George Oatley, the renowned Bristol architect credited with iconic structures such as the Wills Memorial Building. Oatley fashioned Coombe Lodge in a Neo-Elizabethan style, blending authentic historical features with modern conveniences. The striking red-stone building, nestled in the serene Mendip Hills, boasts an exquisite view of Chew Valley’s stunning landscapes. Over the years, its sweeping lawns, lush gardens, and panoramic vistas attracted countless photographers and artists. However, Coombe Lodge’s actual transformation into a wedding venue started only in 2009. Its grand ballroom, with high ceilings and tall windows, quickly became a favorite for betrothed couples. The venue also features 12 chic bedrooms, beautifully refurbished to welcome wedding guests. Packed with both grandeur and rustic charm, Coombe Lodge has evolved from a private mansion into an enticingly unique wedding venue that has captivated the imagination of couples and wedding planners alike, here in the heart of Somerset.

How early should I book you to be photographer for my Coombe Lodge wedding?

Congratulations, you’re engaged and have chosen your date and venue. It’s time to secure your booking and to book your wedding photographer. We can be booked up to 2 years in advance, with the average time being a year before the big day. Don’t worry, if you are getting married sooner than that, please send us a message and we can check our diary. We take lots of last-minute wedding bookings – such as off-season or weekday weddings, as these generally have more availability. If you’ve booked a Saturday wedding in June, July or August, it’s important to book as soon as possible – which we’d love to be us! Another great incentive to book early is to guarantee your package price and potentially save you money. Even if your wedding is 2 years away, you will only pay the prices at the time of booking.

How much does it cost to hire you as our photographer for a Coombe Lodge wedding?

When it comes to ensuring your wedding day has a physical reminder of the emotions, love, laughter, romance and fun, a professional photographer is something you can’t afford to scrimp on. After all, you only get to experience the day once, and it often passes in a magical blur. With a full day of photography, you can experience the day all over again, anytime you please. Take a look at our photography packages for more details.
