Dillington House Intimate wedding

Emma and Matt chose the picturesque Dillington House for their intimate wedding to reflect their love of nature (there was a definite butterfly theme throughout) with an elegant and relaxed feel. Even though Dillington House is very grand and rather splendid, it has plenty of cosy charm and feels so inviting.

Emma and Matt have a modern day love story with a hint of “wonderful co-incidence”. After discovering Matt was visiting Emma’s home town to view a chip shop opportunity, they decided to meet up and the rest is history! Emma left her office job to start a joint business venture with Matt, first with a gift shop, then later a chip shop in Bampton which they are still successfully running together.

We have photographed and filmed many intimate weddings, but more so in the past two years and we have to say they are such a joy to be a part of. With a smaller guest list, the couple commented on how the day has a more laid back feel where they can spend more time with the most important people in their lives, on the most important day of their lives.

Dillington house is a venue we absolutely love working at and we have had the pleasure of photographing and filming a variety of weddings over the years.

Emma and Matt’s highlight film

The opulent rooms at Dillington are perfect for getting ready in style before drifting down the staircase and through to the beautifully light and airy Orangery to say “I do”. You and your guests can also stay the night in one of their 43 bedrooms and really feel at home. As a truly personal touch, for decoration, Emma and Matt used the pages of a book Emma had written when she was just 16 called “The Kingdom of Malinas”. They tea stained the pages, then shaped them into hearts for the perfect aisle decoration.

Wedding ceremony decorations

Many couples choose to spend a little time after their ceremony with their furry friends. Beau the dog was very excited to greet the newly weds and have a little wander around the stunning grounds. Then it was time for Emma and Matt to take in the peaceful surroundings and connect for the first time as Mr and Mrs while we snapped away in the background. There are so many breath taking photo opportunities at Dillington, both at the front and back of the magnificent house. We explored the back of the house later on for some more couples shots in a softer late afternoon light – just gorgeous!

Powder and Pearls were absolutely brilliant, we felt you went above and beyond and we couldn’t have done it without you. Everyone commented on how good you were, we’re so happy. Thanks again, Mr and Mrs Lobb x”

Review from Emma and Matt

After a delicious meal overlooking the manicured lawns, we were treated to an impromptu magic show which had us all amazed. The lay out of the venue and extensive grounds means that your guests can relax as they please and make use of the gardens and enjoy some lawn games while you take some time to explore as a couple. Then it’s time to cut that cake and enjoy your first dance together before everyone hits the dance floor for a night to remember!

“When planning your wedding wedding, set your budget and stick to it. We managed to pull off our dream day for just £5,000. I made all of the table and aisle decorations and Matt decorated the venue while I was getting ready. Call on friends too, our magician and event decor company were friends. I chose dried flowers as they worked out much cheaper and I can also keep them after the big day. We also made our own playlist for the evening and bought a disco light from Amazon for the grand sum of £11. Our favours were for the “Dogs Trust” and the guests received an enamel pin from the charity for the donation. Most important is to keep checking in on each other to ensure neither one is doing too much.”

Bride Emma’s top tips

Emma and Matt chose our “complete package” for their intimate wedding at Dillington House, which included a full day of wedding photography and videography and those all important make-up touch-ups. As well as receiving a gorgeous highlights film with all of their best bits, they could watch their ceremony, speeches and first dance in full. Emma commented at how glad they were to have added videography as their day went by so quickly and they couldn’t take everything in.

We are so lucky to work with industry professionals and generally awesome wedding suppliers. A special thanks to the follow for helping to make Emma and Matt’s day so memorable.
