Merriscourt Christmas Barn Wedding

Mon and Jon had waited an extra year for their special day due to covid, along with many other couples over the past 2 years. It was their third wedding date and definitely third time lucky! They tied the knot at Merriscourt barn with a beautiful Christmas wedding celebration. This stunning Oxfordshire wedding venue was a delight to work at and has impressive on-site accommodation for over 30 guests. Mon and Jon were drawn to the dramatic stone buildings and cosy feel of the venue as well as the fact they could take over the whole place for the entire weekend.

This lovely couple met over 10 years ago at the house warming party of a mutual friend. They started a friendship right there, which later led to a magical proposal by Jon who flew to surprise Mon in Chicago at a training course – how romantic ♥ Their mutual friend Bob gave a reading during their wedding ceremony and they were both thankful to him for the fortuitous introduction. The blissfully married couple now live in Swindon with black lab “Nitro” and enjoy travelling and staying active with crossfit.

We really love it when a couple customise their wedding with elements to suit them and make their day unique. The couple and guests (and even the registrar) had a little sing along to “Your love is lifting me higher” at the end of the ceremony. Some of the guests were even dancing in the aisles, it was a joyous finish to the official proceedings!

Now it was time for mingling, canapés, confetti and congratulations before Mon and Jon took time as a couple to explore the grounds. We managed to avoid the majority of the rain and ventured outside later for some more pics. When you book us for a full day package it gives you more flexibility with the weather and we will also bring our own white wedding umbrellas and a wet weather plan.

“Don’t stress!! The things that you think are important really aren’t. Decide on what really matters to you and prioritise those things. For us, we wanted to have a fun and a stress free day; to make a weekend out of it with our family and friends. It was important that everyone was comfortable and relaxed. I loved that my dress had pockets, they came in so handy. Oh, and obviously to choose Powder and Pearls to be your wedding photographers and videographers”.

Bride Mon’s top tips for your wedding day

“Asking Tracey and Jodie to be our wedding photographers was one of the best decisions we made! They were absolutely brilliant on the day, kind, helpful and professional in the lead up to the wedding, and thanks to COVID, it was a long lead up. We had to move our wedding date a few times due to the pandemic, and they were very accommodating. It was clear that they had done a lot of prep work and had researched the venue and picked out good spots to take photos on the day. They were always quick to respond and more than happy to help with any queries. On the day they were INCREDIBLE. They helped put us at ease, made us smile and genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves too, which helped us to enjoy the day even more. They had an amazing ability to capture all of the right moments whilst staying out of the way themselves, clearly they are photography ninjas. We have also been impressed with the incredibly quick turnaround on our ceremony video and the photos, especially considering that our wedding was just before Christmas. As to the quality of the photos – well, they speak for themselves!! I cannot recommend Tracey and Jodie enough x”.

Review from Mr and Mrs Baison

We have to say, we were really well fed at Merrisccourt, there was so much yummy food and the guests really enjoyed it. We were so impressed (and full), we took this snap below↓

The white barn was the perfect setting for the heartfelt and witty speeches with its light and airy feel and hundreds of fairy lights adorning the ceiling. After a quick make up touch up, which is included in all of our full day packages, we headed outside to capture the iconic courtyard tree by night before the party got underway. The first dance was very memorable, we can’t believe Mon lifted Jon!!

Mon and Jon chose our full day photography package for their Merriscourt Christmas barn wedding, with the addition of a ceremony film so they could share their day with some family and friends who couldn’t make it. How great to be able to watch the ceremony back on your anniversary with a glass of fizz and re-live those moments. If you think we could be a great fit for your day, please get in touch.
