The History of St Tewdrics House

St Tewdrics House, a magnificent 19th-century Italianate Villa, holds a rich history within the heart of the picturesque Chepstow in Monmouthshire, United Kingdom. The beautiful country house, named after a recognised Welsh King and Saint -Saint Tewdrics, was built around 1850 by Henry Highmead Jones, to serve as his family’s home. It was then purchased in the 1920s by The Catholic Church and served as a monastery and nursing home. However, it wasn’t until more recently, in 2016, that the house was transformed into a luxury wedding venue by the owners Geraint and Emma Thomas. The Thomas family meticulously renovated the property, preserving its historical charm while incorporating modern elegance. St Tewdrics offers a beautifully serene setting for couples hoping to indulge in the romantic ambience of a bygone era, making it one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the region.
