Thornbury golf club wedding

Chloe and Ollie were blessed with gorgeous sunshine and a beautiful backdrop of wild flowers and lush landscapes at their Thornbury Golf Club wedding in South Gloucestershire. With it’s new refurbished “Courseview”suite and panoramic views, the centre can accommodate up to 120 guests with an 11 bedroom private lodge on site complete with bridal suite. We have been lucky enough to photograph and film many weddings here and are always impressed with the organisation and plethora of stunning photo opportunities.

This lovely couple chose our complete photo and film package as they didn’t want to miss a thing and wanted to be able to re-watch everything and share their day with any friends and family who couldn’t be there. This popular package included a full day of photography and full films of their ceremony, speeches and first dance plus a stunning highlights reel of all of their best moments.

Chloe and Ollie met though mutual friends back in 2014 and on their first date explored the Bristol Harbourside. It obviously went very well as the rest is history and they are now husband and wife and absolutely loving married life! After several covid stumbling blocks, the day was everything they had wished for and more and we have to say what a sweet couple they made and were evidently very loved up!

After a relaxing morning in the lodge with pretty of fizz and giggles, it was time for the main event and a short walk to the first floor of the golf centre. This is always a nervous moment for any couple and the time when it all seems to “feel real”. Bride Chloe has some advice for your big day:

“Make the day work for you as a couple. Don’t be afraid to mix up the order of events to suit you both and ensure you don’t miss out on those canapés or time together. Ollie and I had ours plus a little bit of alone time straight after the ceremony before confetti and mingling. The most important thing for me was having a relaxed timeline and being able to spend lots of time with my family and friends”.

Thornbury golf club has so many pretty photo opportunities, but more importantly, it’s a chance for our newly weds to take a walk together and have a chat while we just capture the natural moments. We can gently guide you and help create those epic shots too. Bride Chloe commented that they even forgot we were there taking pictures as we made them feel so relaxed, chatting away and making them feel comfortable. We’ll take that as a huge compliment!

“You are both so wonderful, for two people who were nervous about wedding photography and hate getting their photos taken, you made us and our family and friends relaxed. You worked with our small but detailed shot list and delivered the best photos we have ever seen. We are so grateful that we paid for the extra video package, it is wonderful and captures the energy of our wedding day. We will recommended Powder and Pearls to everyone” x

Chloe and Ollie

We love taking some time after your wedding breakfast to refresh any make up and capture a few more shots and relaxed film footage with some softer lighting. In this case we were lucky enough to have a gorgeous low sun. This would usually only take 10 or 15 minutes leaving you plenty of time to mingle with your guests and enjoy some more fizz with the people who matter most.

When we return, the “Courseview” suite is miraculously ready for the evening party and cake cutting, although it’s such a wonderful day the outdoor seating area is very popular as the guests look out on to the course.

If you think we could be a great fit to photograph or film (or combine both) on your special day, we’d really love to hear from you at Powder and Pearls. Jodie & Tracey xx
